A masterclass aimed at producers who wish to learn how to increase visitor numbers and sales through their cellar door is to be held at the Wine Studies Centre, Plumpton College, East Sussex next month.
“Wine tourism: optimising your cellar door sales” is to be hosted by Professor Steve Charters MW on Monday, August 13 from 10am to 4pm.
The morning session will focus on the benefits of wine tourism; beyond tours and tastings: options to attract visitors and increase sales; maximising consumer marketing opportunities; skills for successful wine tourism and cellar doors sales; and cases studies of best, and worst, practice in wine tourism.
The afternoon session will be a workshop to enable participants to identify their own business’s needs. In order to target training requirements, Steve Charters will send a questionnaire to participants before the masterclass.
Charters is Professor of Champagne Management at Reims Management School, France. Previously, he worked in wine retail in Sydney before becoming a wine academic in Western Australia. His research interests include consumer behaviour, wine tourism and management expertise, particularly in the sparkling wine industry. He is the editor of ‘The Business of Champagne: A Delicate Balance’ (Routledge), and a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Wine Research and of the International Journal of Wine Business Management.
The masterclass costs £20.00 grant funded or £200.00 full rate. All reservations must be made online at www.wineskills.co.uk by August 6.
