Reservations for tables at a new restaurant located In one of England’s headline vineyards are being taken from next Thursday (May 15) as a new tenant takes over the running of the eatery.
Just four months after the owners of the Richard Phillips@ChapelDown restaurant at the Chapel Down vineyard suddenly pulled the plug on the popular Kentish restaurant, a new tenant has been found.
The Swan English Restaurant at The Chapel Down Winery is the latest venture of The Swan Collection, which was founded in 1999 and specialises in restaurants, bars and events. The Swan opened its first site in West Malling, Kent in 2000 and a second site at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre followed in 2007.
Frazer Thompson, CEO of Chapel Down Group plc, (pictured) says: “We were flattered to have been approached by a number of potential partners, but selected the Swan because they understood that this was something very special as it’s at our “home” and they have been supporters of our wine for many years. For us the chemistry had to work, and there was an instant rapport. I’m certain it’ll be a huge success.”
The Swan team will be serving “a great value, locally-sourced English menu with homemade treats, sharing boards and savouries available throughout the day in this uniquely beautiful environment,” says the hospitality company.

The restaurant is taking reservations now for dining from Tuesday 15th May.
