Linton, Cambridgeshire-based Chilford Hall vineyard will launch a new red wine, its third red, Granta Valley 2009, over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Chilford Hall Vineyard has traditionally produced sparkling rosé and sparkling white wines, as grapes producing these varieties grow exceptionally well under British weather conditions. This will be the third red wine vintage produced by the vineyard; the first, Granta Valley 2008, was so successful it sold out within six weeks, and the second vintage sold out within nine weeks.
Following a successful opening on Friday, March 4 over the Feast East food and drink exhibition weekend, Chilford Hall Vineyard continues to be open for tours and tastings every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive and over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.
The Vineyard is open for tours and tastings over both weekends of English Wine Week, which begins on Saturday 28th May and finishes on Sunday 5th June 2011.
Chilford Hall will also be hosting the East Anglian Wine Growers Association Awards in July this year, after winning Wine of the Year 2010 for the Chilford Hundred Sparkling Rosé 2004.
Glen Mejias, director and general manager of Chilford Hall, says: “Wine sales are strong and our tours and tastings are proving extremely popular! We are pleased to see so many individuals and groups from all over the region supporting local producers and tasting our award winning wines.”
