English Sparkling Wine was served at two official receptions following the national service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral yesterday.
Sussex vineyard Ridgeview supplied their English sparkling wine Bloomsbury 2009 at the official receptions to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee at The Mansion House and Guildhall.
Following the national service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, the Queen attended an intimate reception for just 250 at Mansion House where Ridgeview Bloomsbury 2009 was served. The rest of the Royal Family went on to The Guildhall for a reception for close to 2,000 people where again Ridgeview Bloomsbury 2009 was served.
Founder and winemaker of Ridgeview, Mike Roberts MBE commented: “As a family we feel very proud that our English sparkling wine is to be served on such a momentous occasion to celebrate our remarkable monarch, Her Majesty The Queen. This is such a wonderful honour and acknowledgement of how far our English sparkling wine industry has come to be chosen for such a special Royal event”.
Roberts received an MBE for his services to English wine last month at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
