Pebblebed reaches veraison prior to a ‘huge’ crop

Devon grower Pebblebed Vineyards has reached ‘veraison’, says manager Geoff Bowen, “the onset of ripening”. It is originally French, but has been adopted into English use. The official definition of veraison is “change of colour of the grape berries,” representing the transition from berry growth to berry ripening. He says: “It’s normally about 90 – 100 days from flowering to harvest and veraison occurs
