Win! A copy of Drink Me!

Drink Me!

ukvine.com COMPETITION: Not since Alice found a bottle has something so delicious come out of a bottle with ‘Drink Me!’ on the label. The bottle In question is the centrepiece of the cover of Drink Me! by Matt Walls. Published tomorrow (May 24) by Quadrille, an engaging guide that describes the whole process of making wine, helps the drinker in choosing the right bottle in a restaurant, deciphering the content of a wine label and seeks to demystify the whole ‘swirl, smell, sip, slurp and spit’ process.
While highlighting the fundamental basics of the differences between the Old and the New Worlds, Walls looks at the English industry today. Placing the United Kingdom between Switzerland and Lebanon, he writes: “English wine used to conjure up images of a bearded, sandal-wearing retired hobbyist making something out of nettles. Today, a lot of good English and Welsh wine is being produced, in red, white, rose and sparkling versions.”
There is space for an irreverent yet knowledgeable wine book in plain English on any wine lover’s book shelf and this is most decidedly the one you should make space for.
Award-winning taster and avid wine writer Matt Walls started his wine career at St Martins Vintners, a small independent wine merchant in Brighton. He is a judge at the International Wine Challenge and the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
